这些年，宝马不断在混动和纯电方面积累经验，宝马决定自2月21日起开始一系列针对BMW i成立十周年的庆祝活动。从长远看来，到2023年，宝马计划将提供25款新能源汽车，并在2030年之前拥有超过700万辆新能源汽车，其中三分之二完全用电。而包括7系、5系和X1在内的许多车型未来都会有纯电动版本。

宝马的新能源之路：

时间最早可以追溯到1972年，当时宝马为了应对石油危机，推出了1602e电动车，这款车可以说是宝马新能源车的鼻祖。当年的慕尼黑奥林匹克运动会上，因为宝马1602e没有安装内燃机引擎，长跑运动员不会吸入污染气体，所以便成为长跑引导车的最佳选择。

1602e安装了12块12V的铅酸电池，最大功率32kW，电池容量为12.6kWh，总重量约350千克，城市工况综合续航里程30公里，相比于现在续航动辄几百公里的电动汽车来说有点少，但在当时可属不易。

1975年，宝马推出电动车LS，这款车更像是1602e的衍生品，很多数据甚至不如1602e。LS虽然创新的采用了插电式充电的方式，但是充满电耗时高达14个小时，LS为之后的宝马电动车发展积累了宝贵的经验。

1981年，宝马启动“带有高性能电池的电动车”计划，1987年，宝马改装了8辆四驱325iX轿车，其中3辆被德意志邮政用作导游车，剩下的送给了德国政府员工。

在这款车型上，宝马首次采用了免维护的钠硫电池，最大功率22kW，电池容量22kWh，百公里加速9秒，城市工况续航达到了150公里。

1991年法兰克福车展，宝马正式推出E1，这台外观略显怪异的小车和i3拥有同样的设计理念，均采用的是轻量化车身设计，车身尺寸为3460/1648/1500mm，轴距2325 mm。

E1的电池容量为19kWh，最大输出功率32kW，最高时速可达120km/h，城市续航里程提升至150公里，重达200公斤的高能电池被固定在后座下方，电动机与传动系统一起集成在后桥中。

E1的电池需要6小时充满，特殊充电站充满时间仅为2个小时。后来宝马还推出了升级版的E1，采用了钠镍氯化物电池，提升了电池的使用寿命。

上个世纪的90年代，宝马还曾在第三代3系上实现了纯电动化。最重要的是，宝马的快速充电以及动能回收技术在这台车上取得进展，当时可以做到电池在40分钟内充至75%，工程师还在驾驶期间恢复了多达20%的电能。

1992年至1997年，宝马共生产了25辆325测试车，采用钠镍氯化物电池，电池容量29kWh，最大功率45kW，城市续航里程150km。2008年，宝马还推出了Mini的电动测试车，其中600辆向公众出租。

2010年，宝马推出ActiveE Concept，这台车以1系双门轿跑车为基础打造而来，外观相比普通车型有所变化，用蓝色装饰和五辐运动轮毂来体现这台车的新能源元素。

ActiveE Concept的电池容量32kWh，最大功率125kW，续航里程约160公里，这台车为宝马新能源车型的大规模量产进行了最后的蓄力。

2011年，宝马在慕尼黑总部发布了全新的子品牌BMW i，并随之推出两款新车i3和i8。BMW i品牌向我们描绘了未来人们在用车以及出行方面的全新体验，将各种机动出行的优势进行智能整合，并提出相应的解决方案。

2013年，两款概念车正式实现量产，14年9月进入中国市场，宝马i3定位城市环境使用的通勤电动车，采用碳纤维车身，整车重量仅1250kg。分为增程型和纯电两个版本；而i8则是一款新能源超跑，采用插电混动技术，前轴由一台96kW的电机驱动，后轴由一台1.5T发动机驱动。
